Awards Night 2017 A great evening with a large turnout on an awful rainlashed night with everyone reporting deep floods on their arrival which got worse before we all left, which way to go back was the discussion later. Even flat mile road was flooded badly, not too deep but for a long section, Weeton was
reported as a no go, we knew Hardhorn road was deep by the railway bridge too, Lodge Lane back to the lights seemed the safest, only short and Sally the keyholder had arrived that way, she said it was bad but got through. Using all sides of the road to navigate through at a slow speed and I was through,
following DaveB back he was surfing his mondeo on a large wave, leaving a wake behind him, then back to town and plenty more deep floods, Stanley Park road had two new mini boating lakes.
So, whilst the rain hammered on the roof the evening began with raffle ticket sales and free hot pot, biscuits, mince pies and cakes and brews, another fine tasty hot pot from Chef DaveB. Followed by the presentation with MC DaveE and guest international UCI Commissaire Chris Naylor just back from Japan meeting and greeting winners and Lewis Hartley GB Squad rider and Mick Braithwaite from Paul Hewitt Cycles.
Clubman of the Year is the club's most prestigious award and this year there was one stand out nomination for all his years of service to the club, racing, treasurer, founder member of Remoulds, timekeeping at races, committee duties step forward Peter Shuttleworth. Finishing with the raffle, plenty of prizes, Wine and other drinkies, Xmas Cake, gifts, bike accessories and Chris Naylor wrapped up the evening with stories and tales from within the peleton and his own history of how he went from a junior road racing champion to an International standard Commissaire, he has worked UK events, commenwealth games, olympics, track events, Worlds, trainer of motorbike escort riders, tour radio and much more, if you want to hear more he will be back at the club early new year for more peleton stories.
Thanks to Chris Naylor and Frankie Counsell (offical photographer), all the committee for organsing and everyone who helped set up and clear up on the night,

hopefully you all got home safely and dry.....
