Following on from my Cycling Time Trials (CTT) third party insurance clarification that racers are actually directly covered themselves by the CTT Policy.
I have now had a reply from the CTT National Secretary Nick Sharpe (Legal & Corporate) who confirms that racers are in fact covered, further, claims between one competitor and another competitor are also covered. The wording on the CTT website was not clear and this will be amended shortly, the CTT 2019 Handbook will be updated next year.
In respect of other organistions and for time trials only (I will do a further article on social riding third party cover in due course), British Cycling (BC) hold four levels of membership however only Race Gold and Race Silver include cover for competitive cycling events held held under the auspices of other cycling organisations whose rules and regulations (including Event Safety Guidelines) are acceptable to British Cycling, Cycling Time Trials (CTT) are one such recognised body and listed by BC. No other level of BC Membership includes such cover neither Ride, Commute and Fan include cover for time trials.
